Department
for Medicaid Services
Libby Carter, RN, Nurse Consultant, with the Department
for Medicaid Services KenPAC Division is available at the Department for
Employment Services,
138 College Street in Pikeville, Kentucky. The KenPAC Nurse Consultant Program
is a statewide network of registered nurses located in regions of
the Commonwealth with higher Medicaid population density. The
primary goal of KenPAC's new program is to establish a presence for
Medicaid at the community level to support the local KenPAC Primary
Care Case Managers who provide medical services for KenPAC
recipients. Libby will serve as a resource for providers about
Medicaid and KenPAC policies and assist members and providers

kentucky's jobsight"
What is
"eastern
kentucky's jobsight"? It is a one stop site
coordinated and administered by Eastern
Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. (EKCEP),
located at 120 South Riverfill Drive in Pikeville Kentucky that
makes available numerous training, education, and employment
programs in a single, customer-focused, user-friendly service system
where the public can go to for assistance regarding G.E.D. classes,
unemployment insurance, resume preparation, student grants and
loans, job search assistance, career planning, job placement,
tuition assistance, internet job searches, Vocational
Rehabilitation, two-year degree programs, older workers assistance,
labor market information, and vocational training. At this center
all the partnering
agencies (Job Corps, Big Sandy CAP, KCTCS, CEOC,
DVR, Adult Education, DES, EKCEP) are co-housed in one building for
the convenience of the public. All
services are free.
Hours of operation are Monday 8:00am to 6:30pm, Tuesday-Thursday
8:00am to 4:30pm, and Friday 8:00am to 2:30pm. For more information

The Cabinet for Families and
Children Department for Community Based Services
located in the Big
Sandy Area provides the following assistance to clients
meeting the eligibility criteria:
The Kentucky
Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP) provides financial
or medical assistance to needy dependent children in Kentucky and
the parents, or relatives, with whom the children are living. KTAP
helps families find jobs or get training that leads to a job.
The Medicare
Program, is
a Health Insurance Program for people who have worked for at least
10 years in Medicare-covered employment anr 65 years of age or
older, some disabled people under 65 years of age, and people with
End-Stage Renal Disease permanent kidney failure treated with
dialysis or a transplant).
They provide food
stamps for those who meet income and resource
limits; Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to families with
children under 18, deprived of parental support due to the death,
absences, or disability of one or both parents; Medical assistance for families with children under 18 and elderly
adults while also providing assistance with Adoptions,
Adult
Abuse, Child
Abuse, Childcare
Services, Child
Support, Foster
Care, Heating
Assistance, KCHIP,

The Department for Protection and Permanency provides
investigation of and counseling for adult and child abuse,
adoption, foster-care, and juvenile services. All reports remain

Children's Health Insurance Program
(KCHIP)
What is KCHIP? The Kentucky
Children's Health Insurance Program
(KCHIP) provides free health insurance for Kentucky's children at no
cost to the family. Uninsured children from birth to 19 years of age
who live in families with income at or below 200% of the Federal
Poverty Level is eligible. (For a family of four that is
$34,100 a year.)
KCHIP covers
everything from checkups to prescriptions, broken bones to booster
shots, eyeglasses, hearing aids, dental care, behavioral health,
hospital care and more.

Big
Sandy Area Community Action Program, Inc.
The Big
Sandy Area Community Action Program, Inc. provides
various services in a five county area which consisting of Pike,
Martin, Floyd, Magoffin, and Johnson counties. Services they offer to low
income households include: Housing, Food, Employment including
the Senior Community Services Employment Program and Title I WIA
(Adult youth and Dislocated Workers), Energy Assistance, Home Repair
and Weatherization, Family Preservation/Reunification, Year Round
Youth Program, Educational Scholarships, County Headstart Program,
Childcare Assistance, and Parenting classes. Office hours are Monday
through Friday
8:00am to 4:30pm at the office, located on 478 Town Mountain Road in
Pikeville Kentucky, or you may stop by to see one of their
representatives Tuesday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm at "eastern
kentucky's jobsight".

The Department
of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) offices are located in
Pikeville at 126 Trivette Drive; Uniplex Building, Suite 302. DVR counselors are
available from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. You

Department for the Blind
Kentucky Department for the Blind (DFB)
counselors work in conjunction with Department for Employment
Services (DES) staff to provide job search assistance and
specialized services to customers. Counselors from the
Kentucky Department for the Blind
(DFB) are located on-site at "eastern kentucky's jobsight"
located at 120 South Riverfill Drive in Pikeville Kentucky
every Tuesday from 12:00pm to 4:30pm. DFB counselors work
in conjunction with Department for Employment Services (DES) staff
to provide job search assistance and specialized services to
customers. They assist individuals who are blind or visually
impaired to become more independent and productive in the workplace,

The Kentucky
Department for the Blind’s KY Jobline provides you

in Eastern Kentucky and administers employment and training programs
to economically disadvantaged individuals including youth, TANF
recipients, Veterans, offenders, minorities, disabled, school

Job
Corps is the largest residential education and training program
in the United States for disadvantaged youth ages 16 through 24. The
mission of the Job Corps program is to help economically
disadvantaged young adults become responsible, employable and

Black Lung Office
The primary function for
the Federal
Black Lung Office located at 164 Main Street; Bank One
Building 5th Floor; Pikeville, KY is to process claims from
miners, former miners, and survivors of miners who currently reside
in the Commonwealth. They review medical coal
mine employment evidence then determine whether individuals are
totally disabled from pneumoconiosis (Black Lung). For more
